Home to the largest cranes in the World and capable of handling the largest vessels in the World, London Gateway has now become the first UK port with the ability to lift four containers at one go.
The engineering team at the Port has devised a quad lift shipping crane which doubles the amount of containers it can lift at one time. The spreader is capable of handling four twenty foot containers or two forty foot containers at a time doubling the cranes capacity for moving containers. This is great news for importers as vessels will be turned around much faster meaning quicker deliveries to final destinations.
London Gateway opened November 2013 and is currently served by Maersk, MOL, SAECS. Other shipping lines such as MSC, CMA & Evergreen will be servicing the port very soon.
