China Port Operations – Coronavirus update – 7th Feb 2020

The current outbreak of the Coronavirus continues to cause disruption to shipments to and from mainland China. Many of the major shipping and air lines have suspended services due to port closures and lock-down of movement in and out of country.

Different areas of China are affected to various degree, hence we have collected information from different branches as below for your reference. We hope this will help you plan and arrange shipments.

POL Terminal/Yard Truck Vendors
SHANGHAI Maintain basic operation, efficiency lower than normal, some yards are closed. Some expressways are closed,
shortage of drivers.
Factories will resume work from 10th Feb, mainly to arrange their current shipments out of storage, some production will be suspended.
NINGBO Maintain basic operation, efficiency lower than normal.
Please note that currently yards are not allowed to pick up containers.
Shortage of driver resources. Factories will resume work from 10th Feb.
(Wenzhou/Taizhou areas will resume work from 17th Feb)
QINGDAO Work as normal, maintain basic operation so the efficiency is  lower than normal. Expressway are closed, but most truck companies have resumed work (use other roads to transport shipments) . Some factories will resume work 10th Feb, some are still pending.
After resuming work, it will take around 10 days to produce as normal, currently main shipments out of storage (steel factories will takes longer due to shortage of raw materials).
XIAMEN Maintain basic operations, efficiency  lower than normal. Around 30% of drivers have resumed work, some expressway closed. Some factories will resume work 10th Feb, some on 17th February.
Jinjiang area:pending
SHENZHEN Work as normal, efficiency is  lower than normal. Resume work from 10th Feb. Some factories will resume work on 10th Feb (big factories earlier).
After resuming work, it will takearound 10 days to produce asnormal, currently shipments out of storage.
DALIAN Work as normal. Before 10th Feb:
20% of drivers resumed work.
After 10th Feb: will return to normal gradually.
Factories will resume work on 10th Feb.
NANJING Work as normal. Resume work from 10th Feb,
expected 60% transport capacity.
Factories will resume work on 10th Feb.
TIANJING Work as normal, efficiency lower than normal. Shortage of drivers. Some factories will resume work on 10th Feb (big factories earlier).
After resuming work, it will take around 10 days to produce as normal, currently main shipments out of storage.
FUZHOU Port maintains basic operation but before 10th Feb all yards are closed. Closed before 10th,
after 10th is still pending
Some factories will resume to work on 10th Feb.
After resuming work, it will take around 10 – 14 days to produce as normal .
